Show Description:

How do we fit in?

Where do we find love?

What do we do when an ancient deity gets trapped inside the body of a sarcastic 13 year-old boy?

Join the curious citizens of Smalltown as they seek to answer these very questions.  Written by and starring eight Surrey youth, Welcome to Smalltown is a heartwarming (and heart-wrenching) all-ages dramatic comedy that offers the audience a rare glimpse into the everyday exploits of their peculiar rural community.

50% of Ticket Proceeds are Donated!

Green Room Theatre’s mandate is to give back to the communities we live and work in. That’s why when you buy tickets to our show we give 50% of the proceeds to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, who provide pediatric palliative care to BC children and families.

Green Room Theatre is an arts initiative that engages youth aged 14-18 who face economical and social challenges. Our program is a safe space for creative discovery, expression, and self-development. We run a six-week theatre program in which students develop technical skills such as  improvisation, writing, acting, stagecraft, and performance.

Meet Martin:
Q:Tell us about your theatre background
A: I've taken theater class starting back in grade 8. my first theatre performance was the musical, Grease, where I played Sonny and Teen Angel.

Q: What has been your favourite part about Green Room Theatre Camp so far?
A: My favorite part about Greenroom was getting to meet the people that I would be working with and learning more about making a show from the ground up.

Q:What GRTC activity are you looking forward to most?
A: I was looking forward to the script writing and the ideas we come up with.

Q:What do you hope audiences take away from your devised piece
A: I hope that the audience takes the feeling and pride that it took us to make this show.

Q:When you're not at Green Room, what do you spend your time doing?
A: I mostly play video games and take care of my pets. Sometimes I just chill and listen to music.

Q:What do you hope to do after high school?
A: I still don’t know what I wanna do.

Q:If you were an animal what animal would you be and why?
A: If I were an animal, I would be a hamster because I can just run on my wheel all night and sleep in the day.

Q:Who is your hero?
A: Don’t really have one

Q: What is your favourite movie?
A: Hardcore Henry

Q:If you could go on a road trip with anyone, dead or alive, who would you go with and where would you travel to?
A: I would take Junie and my girlfriend, Claire and go to TrumpLand. (America)

Q:What's something people may not know about you?
A: I can have visions of peoples performances only by listening to them. I can also spot out faces and object out of thin air. 📸: @katgrabowski
